For the past 25 years, I have been teaching cello, guitar, music theory, composition, and working as a performer, arranger, studio music producer, and soundtrack composer. I have a Masters in Music Composition by Louisiana State University School of Music, as well as a Post-Baccalaureate in Music Composition for Cinema and TV, and a Bachelor in Cello Performance by the Conservatorio Brasileiro de Musica. I was a cellist in the Brazilian National Symphony Orchestra for 18 years, and I was the first Brazilian to perform concerts and workshops in the New Directions Cello Festival, demonstrating the cello as rhythmic and harmonic instrument in musical styles as Maracatú, Baião and Samba Canção. I believe that students from diverse backgrounds can equally learn the traditional subjects of music study, as music theory, music history, composition, and instrument performance. My aim is broaden the musical universe of the students, by exposing them to styles and genres outside their usual experience. I try to introduce them to the creative process in various forms of art, and as well as to the technology that they can utilize to aid in their process. Additionally to instrument performance, I teach them to record and produce their music using computers, tablets or cell phones. My ultimate goal is to help students to develop an understanding of music as an artistic language accessible to all. To help in this sense, I incorporate class topics such as literature, history, sociology, and pop culture, in order to show their interactions with music study.

My pupils have ranged from the ages of 5 to 65 as private pupils, and in primary, secondary and private schools, at music centres and junior conservatoire. I take pupils from beginner to advanced through the ABRSM exam syllabus with a range of activities to focus on rhythm, pitch, aural and musicianship alongside the technical and musical skills of either instrument. I pride myself on being able to adapt to each pupil's learning style and support areas needing more help, and to bring a wide knowledge and set of skills to encourage each pupil to find their musical voice. My own performing experience varies from playing at the Royal Opera House with the orchestra of Sir Elton John, to solo music for weddings and events across London and the south, cello quartet performances at prestigious venues such as the House of Commons, the V&A and Westminster Abbey, to studio and remote recordings for artists, and my own published production music used by the BBC and Sky.

I taught myself music from scratch. It was a rough process. But it made me firmly believe anyone can learn music. If you can count to 8, you can play music on nearly any instrument. Musicians make music seem more complicated than it actually is. I love teaching music theory like a language and I think it's important to start jamming as soon as possible. Before I was a music teacher, I was a behavioral therapist working with non vocal clients with autism. I do my best to condense lessons into a series of behaviors that build over time and teach a strong understanding of music theory.
