Trumpet, Cornet
My name is Jonathan Saraga—trumpeter, composer, educator and Doctor of Musical Arts based in New York City. I’ve been performing, recording and competing internationally as a trumpeter, flugelhornist composer, and arranger since 2002. I can be heard on 30+ studio albums, in 250+ YouTube videos, and my work has engaged with audiences in over 500 cities, nearly 70 countries and just short of 100 different universities. I hold 9 years of Conservatory training, 3 degrees in Music Performance/Jazz Studies, as well as 30 international awards, grants and/or commissions from 25 different organizations. I’ve performed extensively throughout Europe, Asia, Central America, the Caribbean, Canada and the U.S., including via multiple national tours. I headlined a jazz festival, performed in front of 10,000 people, and have worked as a trumpeter and flugelhornist for many Grammy nominated and/or winning artists; notably Maria Schneider, Darcy James Argue, Orrin Evans, Arturo O'Farrill, Tyshawn Sorey, Jimmy Greene, Steve Coleman, Henry Cole, Remy Le Boeuf, Dan Pugash/Nicole Zuraitis, Steven Feifke, Migiwa Miyajima, Manuel Valera, Samuel Torres, Jihye Lee, the Revive Big Band, the Birdland Big Band, the Mingus Big Band, the Terraza Big Band, and Brass Against. I’ve performed at prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall, Symphony Space, the Barclay’s Center, the Jazz Standard, Birdland Jazz Club, the Jazz Gallery, Barclay's Center, Smoke Jazz Club, Rockefeller Center, the Blue Note, Jazz at Lincoln Center, Le Poisson Rouge, the Iridium, Joe's Pub, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and Smalls Jazz Club to name only a few. Besides professing a passion and skillset for the playing and writing of music within the jazz and classical idioms, my usage of sound draws from and contributes to many other genres, forms of art and human expression. I’ve performed in Marc Jacobs fashion runway shows, as part of sound baths for the New Life Expo, for Yoga classes at Jivamukti, the Three Jewels and Sacred Sounds Yoga, as a musical aid for art exhibitions presented by ChaShaMa, as a sound-facilitator at meditation classes for WeWork, as well as an accompanist for dance classes, workshops and performances presented by the Martha Graham Dance Academy and the Jeoffrey Ballet School. I’ve also performed at services and gatherings held at synagogues, churches and cultural-preservation centers including St. Peter's Church at the Citicorp Center, the Tibet House, Triskelion Arts, the Jewish Community Center and the New York Insight Meditation Center to name a few. My study, practice and devotion to music is at the forefront of my purpose in life. My musical pursuits are fueled by an incessant need to understand the human condition, as well as my own quest for truth and self- realization. Disciplinary arts such as Yoga, meditation, shadow-work, resistance training and extra-sensory awareness practices have helped guide me towards the confrontation and resolution of traumas, conditioned beliefs, mental constructs as well as the depths of who and what I am. It is from this place that the music I play and write exists, and while I enjoy creating art that amazes and dazzles people, to help others connect and re-center with their true self is one of my ultimate goals as both a performing artist and composer.

Hello everyone😃 Happy to see you here! My name is Kesem Ninio and I am a professional trombone player, composer and music teacher. I have a master's degree from Manhattan School of Music. My goal is to make you better and to improve as fast as possible. I am confident that together we can achieve that. With that said, rest assured, it's going to be a lot of fun! Here is what I can help you with: ♪ Music Theory and Harmony, Analysis ♪ Ear Training ♪ Trombone Performance + All brass Instruments ♪ Composition ♪ Improvisation ♪ Musicality, Musicianship - telling a story ♪ Sight Reading Music Theory and Harmony, Analysis - The mathematics and symmetry of Mozart’s piano sonatas, the mysterious beauty of Stravinsky’s Petrushka chord...how can twelve simple notes produce such varied and opposing musical outcomes? This question has engrossed my imagination since I began playing trombone at the age of 10. I began composing at age 12 by improvising on the trombone and the piano. Later, I would record my improvisations, transcribe and edit them, and publish short pieces. This curiosity and creativity still excites me today and I want to share it with you! I have a passion for music theory, and I think theory is very important for all musicians, especially performers, to better understand their craft. I love to teach theory, having taught more than 50 music theory students over the past few years. I will teach you anything you want to know about chords, harmonic functions and progressions, voice leading, musical forms, analysis and many more subtopics of this fascinating field. Ear training - Having developed over the years exceptional hearing abilities, I have devised a special method that helps my students identify intervals and chords by associations. I will teach you how to remember an interval/ chord by its quality/timbre. Trombone Performance + All brass Instruments - I studied with the best trombone and brass teachers in the world. I took masterclasses with the best of the best, top of the field brass legends. There is so much knowledge that I have acquired over the years and I am eager to share it with more students. I have a lot of experience teaching all brass instruments and can help you improve rapidly. I will teach you how to get better on any brass instrument. Composition - Whether you want to be a professional composer or you are a performer that wants to broaden horizons, learning how to express yourself is a crucial ability for a musician. Exploring your ideas and making them into music is a creative process that requires a lot of patience and skill. I will teach you how to find your voice. Improvisation - I believe that every musician should incorporate improvisation techniques in their practice room. Often, we get bored practicing the same things again and again. Improvisation helps us increase creativity, explore our musiciality, evade boredom and have more fun. I will teach you the main principles I use and show you how to include improvisation in daily practice. Musicianship, telling a story - Very often I see students so focused on technique that they completely forget the main thing. If you want to be a good musician, you do not need to play the fastest, the loudest or the highest. While these things can impress some people, I believe the main thing would be the message we convey to the audience when we perform. The story behind the notes. I will teach you how to make that a priority in your playing. Sight Reading - If you want to get better fast, practicing sight reading is a must. Knowing how to read music quickly and with minimum mistakes is important to every musician. There are some basic tips and principles that are often not taught. However, I believe knowing those will help you improve drastically. I will teach you exactly how to do that.

I’m a singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and former touring musician with decades of experience leading bands and choirs, and a passion for helping others realize their dreams. I began my career as a professional musician by working as a tenor section leader while studying music composition, conducting, and vocal performance. I also interned at Todd Hobin Studios, where I gained hands-on experience in recording and production. Over the years, I’ve served as section leader for several vocal ensembles, further developing my musical and leadership abilities. After earning my BA in Music, I returned home and stepped into a directorial role, where I continue to lead, perform, and collaborate across a wide range of musical styles.
