I am a musician and music teacher with over 15 years experience, and am passionate about sharing the joy of music via lessons tailored to my students individual needs! I offer creative, dynamic and energetic teaching, with a student-focused outlook. About me: Having learned violin from the age of 7 and with a degree in Popular and World Musics (Leeds University) and an MA in Composition for Film & TV (Bristol University), I have a solid grounding in musical theory and substantial experience of both teaching, performing, composing and recording. I tailor lessons to the needs of individual students. I am experienced in teaching both adults and children. Specialising in helping my students to build confidence in their playing and learning, and with that showing them how the learning process can be enjoyed. For adults, I offer friendly and fun lessons tailored to the desires and needs of the student. For children, I specialises in engaging beginner children in a range of instruments and helping them concentrate, enjoy the learning process and feel the enthusiasm and joy that music brings. I am able to assess each student's abilities in terms of levels of concentration and understanding and offer teaching which is just the right level of challenging, mentally engaging and enjoyable but at an appropriate pace, thus avoiding frustration. With a positive attitude and a belief that each and every student is capable of learning and enjoying music, I put my heart and soul into teaching and bring out the best in my students

I come from a classical background but most of my real world experience is in rock and pop. I attended Goldsmiths University London where I specialised in jazz performance, music tech and musical composition and I have toured extensively with both originals bands and function bands including performing on a cruise around the U.K. I spent the last 3 years working with Just Play music school in London where I lead ensembles and one on one lessons both in person and online. I’m a committed, patient and enthusiastic educator and I’ve had the pleasure of working with children and adults from a diverse range of abilities and backgrounds.

I have been teaching private lessons since I was in high school. I graduated from the Berklee College of Music in 2018 with a degree in Music Education. I have been playing piano since the age of five, studying voice since the age of seven and guitar since I was eleven. I have worked in a variety of group and private settings. I have studied Jazz, Classical and Contemporary techniques on all three of my main instruments and focuses on wellness integration while teaching.

I have performed in several important Jazz Festivals with renowned musicians from Italy and abroad. I have released two albums as a co-leader and five as a side musician. I studied cello under James Halsey from the Royal College of Music and Music (BMus Hons) at The University of Huddersfield, studying conducting under award winning conductor Natalia Luis-Bassa and composition and performance under world renowned pianist Dr. Philip Thomas. I have toured all over the UK and Europe, and have headlined some prestigious venues including; The NEC (Birmingham,) Aintree Racecourse and The Cavern Club (Liverpool,) as well as playing with some highly regarded ensembles including The Orchestra of The Swan as the soloist for their Snowman tour. After university I founded and ran my own record label and recording studio, started the world’s first ‘Bandeoke’ band and have taught 100s of pupils in groups and 1-1 lessons.  I offers instrumental lessons from beginner to grade 8 in; guitar, voice, cello, bass guitar and double bass, and from beginner to grade 5 in; piano/keyboard, violin, drums, ukulele and music theory. I am a trained opera singer, studying under Chris Booth-Jones from the Royal Academy of Music, and have performed in many musicals and stage productions, taking the lead roles in; Oliver, Joseph and his Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Grease and Oklahoma. I have taught at many schools and colleges, starting my own courses and leading string groups, orchestras, choirs, theory groups and bands.   When I'm not teaching or gigging I work with musicians from all over the world as a freelance recording artist/session musician/composer/arranger/producer and technician.

Hey, I'm David, and music's been my thing since I was 3. Growing up in music school set me on a path to gather a bunch of musical skills along the way. I'm not just throwing around a list of instruments—I've dedicated a portion of my life to learning each one. From guitars (both electric and classical) to piano, bass guitar, double bass, and even a dabbling in drums—I've given each instrument its due attention. But, I didn't stop there; I was a singer my whole life and I spent time in a lot of different genres (Operatic singing, Metal screaming, Rock and Pop), I also compose orchestral music, and produce pop tracks too. These skills aren’t just for show—I've dedicated chunks of my life to mastering them, and I've got the experience to prove it! In my teaching style, I mix my love for music with my adventures spanning 25 years in the field. Picture a blend of all the genres I've played, the stages I've rocked, and the melodies I've composed, all dancing together in my teaching approach. From jamming on stages across Europe to recording scores for Hollywood, I infuse my classes with stories from the road and lessons learned in the studio. Whether we're diving into the depths of composition or perfecting instrumental skills, I aim to go beyond just the notes on the page. I started playing music when I was I ten. I was awarded a partial scholarship to the University of Idaho's Lionel Hampton School of Music where I majored in Classical Saxophone Performance, where I won the Outstanding Jazz Soloist award (2004). I then received a partial scholarship to the Berklee College of Music and studied there with a principal instrument of saxophone, and graduated with a degree in Contemporary Writing and Production in 2009. I've spent the last ten years performing full-time, on cruise ships (Carnival, Princess, Holland-America, Celebrity, Norwegian, Royal Caribbean, The World), land tours (iLa Mawana national tour), theatre productions (For The Record: The Brat Pack, Broadway's After Midnight), and independent bands (Samsaya Trio, Vivian Clement Quartet). My performing experience has taken me to 70 countries and all seven continents. I've self-recorded and self- produced multiple albums. I've been featured as an arranger in many settings, including Robert McFletcher's LOVE. I have three of my own shows (A Public Saxophone and other Bedtime Stories, Just Sax, and CBSAXLIVE). While I studied saxophone as my primary instrument, I also play flute, clarinet, harmonica and bass guitar at a professional level. My degree is in composition and recording/production, so I would love to help anyone getting started in that area. I also teach music theory for those interested in learning theory.
