I consider myself to be an eclectic musician meaning I appreciate and enjoy ALL styles of music. I have more than 20 years of performing, coaching, teaching, providing workshops, adjudicating all styles of singing that range from classical to pop to gospel to rock and much more. My purpose is to make sure that each student achieves success based on what he or she wishes to succeed. But most important, I seek to make sure my students develop a love and passion for music which will allow them to become individuals filled with enthusiasm, motivation and willingness to enjoy life, family, friends, but especially themselves.

Hello, Minh Tuyen have been teaching piano, music theory and singing with accompaniment for more than 15 years. I am teaching the ABRSM syllabus and Rockschool syllabus. My students are from 4 years old to adult. Young children will need an adult to supervise their lesson online as it is a little different to an in person face to face lesson. I am a professional music educator with 15 years of experience teaching piano, choir, voice, composition and musical theatre. I have worked as a full-time music teacher at the American Embassy School in New Delhi, India and the American International School of Mozambique, as well as Avenues: The World School and Brooklyn Friends School in New York City. I specialize in working with pre-teens, teens and adults, whether beginners or experienced players. I am an experienced, engaging and flexible piano teacher. I tailor my lessons to each student’s goals, musical interests and learning style. Before graduating with my Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from Berklee College of Music in Boston, I was a professional theater actress from ages 12-16. I am a highly experienced singer and teacher, having been the Jazz Vocal professor at the Royal Academy of Music, London. I have a Bmus in jazz vocal studies and an LRAM teaching qualification. I teach all age groups and levels, from beginners to advanced in jazz, musical theatre, pop and classical. I can teach you to improvise, sight sing and develop your aural and music theory knowledge. I can also help with songwriting. I believe in healthy vocal technique using vocal exercises and developing excellent support. I have worked with notable great UK jazz musicians such as Gmilym Simcock (Pat Metheny) Tim Whitehead, John Turville, Orlando Le Fleming, Chris Higginbottom, to name but a few.

I am a versatile musician and performer with over 10 years teaching experience in voice and piano. I am classically trained and have a bachelor's degree in Vocal Performance from University of Toronto as well as a master's degree in Vocal Performance and Literature from Western University of Ontario. I have sung variety of repertoire ranging from Baroque to Popular music, as well as jazz and opera. I have performed extensively both as a soloist and as part of ensembles throughout Canada, including Schola Cantorum, Toronto Orpheus Choir, and Opera in Concert. I have also been part of valour intensive young artist programs such as Spazio Music International and Academia Europe Dell'Opera in Italy, Chicago Summer Opera in the United States, and Summer Lyric Opera Theatre as well as Tapestry Opera in Canada. Moreover I have a grade 10 Certificate in Piano from Royal Conservatory of Music. As a teacher I always strive to bring out the best in my students by challenging them with new concepts using innovative teaching methods. I believe that voice is a reflection of our inner world and that singing is a healthy outlet for expressing emotions. My approach to singing is somewhat athletic, utilizing the whole body and making my students a little bit stronger and healthier along the way. I use physical activities which activate the breathing mechanism and choose repertoire that is age and level appropriate and appeals to the student. In piano lessons I use a combination of innovative and standard approach and include a little bit of theory and keyboard harmony in every lesson to enhance the learning process. I try to make learning music fun and informative at the same time while helping my students cultivate the ability to express themselves in an authentic manner.

Well, I am very passionate about music, it has been part of my life for a very long time. I am teaching music to my students in a classroom, so why not to do it online? I have experience in online teaching for 7 years, up to now, I have been teaching Music theory with practical usage of instruments (guitar, bass, piano and percussions) online too. I have my own curriculum, so I can adjust it according to the students' needs. My music experience is a very rich one. I used to play in many bands over the time, I have a professional career as a guitar player in Theatres orchestra. I have opened concerts for some famous music stars. I am a patient and hardworking, responsible teacher. I will do my best in every class, because teacher responsibility is not just to teach, teacher power lies in attitude and ground principles which all well educated teachers know how to use to better stand for the student. As an experienced music teacher, I am offering piano, voice and music theory lessons. I got my degrees at the University of Music and performing Arts Graz and Vienna. What’s really important to me is to develop an individual study plan for every student and to introduce students to different musical styles auch as Classic, Jazz, Pop, Rock... I have been playing piano since the age of five, studying voice since the age of seven and guitar since I was eleven. I have worked in a variety of group and private settings. I studied cello under James Halsey from the Royal College of Music and Music (BMus Hons) at The University of Huddersfield, studying conducting under award winning conductor Natalia Luis-Bassa and composition and performance under world renowned pianist Dr. Philip Thomas. I have toured all over the UK and Europe, and have headlined some prestigious venues including; The NEC (Birmingham,) Aintree Racecourse and The Cavern Club (Liverpool,) as well as playing with some highly regarded ensembles including The Orchestra of The Swan as the soloist for their Snowman tour. After university I founded and ran my own record label and recording studio, started the world’s first ‘Bandeoke’ band and have taught 100s of pupils in groups and 1-1 lessons.  I offers instrumental lessons from beginner to grade 8 in; guitar, voice, cello, bass guitar and double bass, and from beginner to grade 5 in; piano/keyboard, violin, drums, ukulele and music theory. I am a trained opera singer, studying under Chris Booth-Jones from the Royal Academy of Music, and have performed in many musicals and stage productions, taking the lead roles in; Oliver, Joseph and his Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Grease and Oklahoma. I have taught at many schools and colleges, starting my own courses and leading string groups, orchestras, choirs, theory groups and bands.   When I'm not teaching or gigging I work with musicians from all over the world as a freelance recording artist/session musician/composer/arranger/producer and technician.

I began in the entertainment business when I was 7 years old and appeared in the British Movie Here We Go Round The Mulberry Bush in 1967. After trying several proper jobs I discovered that I was actually “allergic” to real work and at a very young age I decided to become a musician. I studied Musical Theater and acting for 4 years at the University Of Hertfordshire in the UK and subsequently acted in several UK TV shows and movies including The Young Americans with Harvey Keitel and Judge Dredd with Sylvester Stallone. I am an award-winning writer of Musical Theater winning the Vivian Ellis Best Composer Award along with my co-writers in 1996. My shows have been staged in the West End of London at the London Palladium and Her Majesty’s Theatre. In 1990 I wrote the million-selling hit single Dirty Cash/Money Talks, which got to number 1 in the UK charts and number 25 in the US Billboard. I have also had two number ones in the Billboard Club Chart. In 1993 Simon Cowell signed me as an artist to his Arista label in London. Three months later the label went into receivership. I often wonder what happened to that Cowell chap! I was subsequently signed to BMG then Sony records as a vocalist for the band Surreal Madrid. Sir Paul McCartney produced one of the Surreal Madrid tracks. A month later I had the privilege of singing back up vocals for Paul at a Buddy Holly tribute gig in Trafalgar Square London. My good friend Dean Collinson then invited me to join his newly formed backing agency and my first gig was to sing back up for the Spice Girls. I teach vocals in a fun and educative way. I offer the full Pop Star experience. As well as instructing students in the techniques of vocal production I also teach them about the recording process, song writing and performance. I record all my students and we are constantly in production working on and recording new songs. I am happy to teach Musical Theater, Rock, Pop and R&B. I am not a “cookie cutter” vocal coach. I understand that we are all different and techniques that work for one person may not work for another. I work on a student’s uniqueness and individuality so no two lessons are exactly the same. Two years ago one of my students Whitney Lynn Smith got through to the first round of American Idol. She is now working on her first CD in Nashville Tennessee. Another of my student’s Élan is just about to sign with Sony EMI. Mary Rose has been signed to One Source Talent in New York and 19-year-old male vocalist Jay Todd who has been a student of mine for about 6 months has just signed a development deal with Atlantic Records in Boston. If I think a student has something exceptional about them I will, with the permission of the parents pass their details on to the many contacts I have in the US and the UK.
