Hi, my name is Lucas. I'm a music educator with a master's in voice performance (University of Missouri), where I was a Teaching Assistant. I've been teaching for more than 15 years, and I'm proud to say that I have a very good relationship with my students. In these past two years, I won 3 voice competitions and I was the main character of 2 opera productions. I graduated with a GPA of 3.9. I'm a professional singer and performer living and working in Mexico City. In my own vocal practice, I focus on Free Jazz and Improvisation, Classic Jazz vocals, and extended techniques in voice and performance. However, I have several students who have a more pop-oriented approach. I believe the voice is the symptom of the body, and thus should be taught in a holistic manner. There is a lot of emphasis on breath, pelvic and abdominal support of the diaphragm, and freedom to find your own voice and style without judgement.

I am an internationally known opera singer with over 25 years successful carrier. Additionally, I have gained many years of experience in the field of vocal pedagogy. I have mastered the classical singing technique Belcanto, on which basis I have developed over the years my own technique. I work in Italian, German, French, Russian, in oratorio as well as in the song repertoire. In addition to my active career, my other passion is passing on the knowledge, I have acquired, to young singers. Accordingly, I have been privately teaching promising young talents for many years who are now making successful careers. I am also a writer, so I published my book "Solo OM" based on my biography and issued couple of CDs. I’m a singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and former touring musician with decades of experience leading bands and choirs, and a passion for helping others realize their dreams. I began my career as a professional musician by working as a tenor section leader while studying music composition, conducting, and vocal performance. I also interned at Todd Hobin Studios, where I gained hands-on experience in recording and production. Over the years, I’ve served as section leader for several vocal ensembles, further developing my musical and leadership abilities. After earning my BA in Music, I returned home and stepped into a directorial role, where I continue to lead, perform, and collaborate across a wide range of musical styles.

I’ve been a music educator in public schools for over 20 years and a performer since the age of two. I began singing in my mother’s church as a toddler and gave my first stage performance at West Virginia’s Vandalia Gathering at age five. I started formal voice training at 15, studying with Deborah Lucas and later with Dr. Larry Stickler at Marshall University. Throughout my career, I’ve taught both in schools and private studios, with students ranging from beginners to one who reached the Top 12 on American Idol. I’ve also performed in over 25 musical theatre productions across college and community stages in West Virginia and Ohio. My teaching emphasizes classical vocal technique—breath support and vocal placement—that applies to all genres. I also started piano early, playing "Twinkle Twinkle" by ear at age two. At four, I began formal lessons with Mrs. Sarah Jane Mangus, who encouraged playing by ear while focusing on reading music, theory, and proper technique. I follow her example today, supporting my students’ creativity while building strong technical and theoretical foundations.

My journey began at a young age and led me to formal training at the College of Music. My background includes classical vocal training, seven years as a lead vocalist in a cover band, and four years performing in musical theatre. Lessons won't have rigid structures, but all of my students do have targets and objectives to work towards, which we will figure out together in your first lesson or two.
