I am a singer song- writer and remote vocal coach for all levels of ability. With over eleven years experience providing both one to one vocal tuition ,group sessions and directing ongoing recording, performance and songwriting workshops I am a highly experienced teacher. I love what I do and I feel this reflects through my teaching to provide fun and inspirational yet informative lessons. My exam pass rate is high and I consider myself to be a bubbly, enthusiastic and highly efficient teacher. I have spent the last two decades performing live, recording and collaborating with a multitude of different artists, musicians and producers. I have been fortunate enough to share the stage with some truly inspirational musicians such as Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers) and Ace (Skunk Anansie) and consider myself to be a highly experienced and professional musician.

I am a musician, singer, songwriter and a qualified and experienced vocal coach. I have a variety of influences and experiences in the music industry. I have studied in LMS and ICMP, I work as a session singer, perform, record and I love teaching singing/performance/ music theory and sharing my experience and knowledge. I have also studied holistic voice therapy so I put a lot of attention to the techniques and vocal health. I teach all levels and its important to me to make sure that the lessons are fun, enjoyable and my students achieve their goals and improve with each lesson. I am a highly respected and prominent multi-instrumentalist and singer. I have had chart success as an artist and played and sang every style of music in every situation from tours and festivals to television and musical theatre across the globe. In 2019 I wrote, produced and sang three number one records in the USA.

I currently work as a professional musician, performing/recording violin and piano for various ensembles and different styles on a regular basis including various musicals and operas, such as lead violinist for UK premier of Little Women the Musical, the premier of The Clockmaker's Daughter at The Landor, The Ace of Clubs, Benjamin Britten's A Midsummer Night's Dream, Hansel & Gretal. I have performed as leader of 2nd violin for the Orion Orchestra and leader of the Huddersfield Philharmonic as well as working with artists including Broadcast 2000, Josh Groban, Ed Sheeran and Rick Wakeman. As well as my performance experience, I have previously worked as a piano, violin and cello teacher at a number of music academies and schools, as well as instrumental teaching, I have also worked as in-house piano accompanist for instrumental exams, choir and orchestral/ensemble rehearsals and school shows/concerts. I also work as musical director and music facilitator for Trinity Theatre and run community singing sessions in Tunbridge Wells and currently run music & baby sensory sessions for ages 0-5 years where as well as singing to the children and their carers I would also give an instrumental demonstration.

HI! My name is Cong Lam. I have graduated from Conservatory of music in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam in 2015. I have 14 years of experience in teaching music at secondary school. I have participated in a music competition at the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory. I have worked at Vinschool Central Park in 2017 as a music teacher. I conducted the choral song "Dreamer" in the “Music without borders” show in 2018 and 2019 and performed "Una furtiva lagrima" (A furtive tear) is the romanza from act 2, scene 8 of the Italian opera L'elisir d'amore by Gaetano Donizetti along with Libertyville High School Orchestra, Chicago, United States in 2019. Up till now, I have just got a certificate “Become a better music teacher” of ABRSM. I hope to help students feel happy and useful when learning music with me.

Singing since I was 3, I have studied many different techniques and styles. I learned to sing in modern style, I performed in musical theater for almost 10 years, and obviously in the end arrived at opera. I think that the voice has no limits, and that we can learn to sing everything. I offer individual lessons to students of all ages and levels, focusing on classical technique, and developing the voice in the direction the student wants. (lyrical, musical theater, or even modern.) I am also a graduate in Piano and Pedagogy from the Conservatory of Toronto, Canada, and recorded an album called 'KATYA-MOONLIGHT' which you can listen to on spotify. Since I started my formal training as a pianist I have been equally enthusiastic as a performer and an educator. I am a Yale School of Music graduate, specialising in voice, with a freelance singing career (lyric soprano) and a growing, vibrant vocal studio. Throughout my undergraduate studies at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, in my native Glasgow, I supported myself teaching piano and voice to members of the community, from ages 8-55. I studied vocal pedagogy closely at Indiana University, and continued to grow my studio as I moved to Connecticut to study at Yale, where I joined Yale College faculty to prepare undergraduate students for their singing juries and exams. Having two master’s degrees in addition to my bachelors, I am very familiar with the pursuit of higher education, and how critical the arts is to that. Alongside this, I am of the genuine belief that music and singing are of critical importance to the developing child and humanity at large. I love teaching all the way from the basic principles of breath, projection, posture, phonation - to advanced aspects of performance and theatre. Teaching can be such a unique opportunity to not only grow skills and mastery, it can also enhance a pupil's enjoyment of life, self confidence, and all aspects of their development as a child, young adult, or mature student. Seeing the aspects of music enrich other parts of a person's life is my joy. I am constantly inspired by the bravery of mature students trying something outside of their comfort zone, and young students starting a journey with the most profound of art forms. With a new student I will meet them where they are, then establish what their goals are. We can look through long terms goals, general goals, or specific repertoire goals. For beginner students we will strip it right down, get to know the process of correct breath and posture, and how we turn that into an instrument! With more advanced students, I will find your strengths, and maximise on what needs to be worked on. I always strive to maximise on a student's language skills, and taking a unique and individual approach to the character of the student themselves.

I am professional musician (piano, keyboards and vocals) with 20 years of experience in music industry. I had about 2000 live performances around Europe, at concerts, festivals, clubs, TV shows...performed with prominent musicians and singers from jazz to hip-hop. Officially released four albums of original music as a bandleader, one of them in USA. Also recorded several albums as a sideman and studio musician. I also did hours of music for movies, documentaries, commercials and theater. I teach music for more than 10 years (keyboards, piano, vocals, improvisation and music theory), from beginners to professionals of all ages. I have advanced knowledge of musical and audio software and fluently speak English.

Fun, energy and passion are the fundamentals of my teaching, and over 22 years of experience has enabled me to finely tune this recipe for successful and enjoyable learning. My lessons are far from formulaic, but instead are based on getting the best out of each individual and their natural learning style. I have a first class BMus Honours degree and an A* in Music A-Level. I specialized in Jazz performance in America in my final year of my degree and also have a wealth of experience performing Jazz; playing lead saxophone in several jazz bands, and leading my own jazz trio on piano. Additionally, I have a strong classical music background. I hold an ABRSM Diploma in Piano Performance, as well as a distinction in grade 8 piano, saxophone and singing. I currently run a 16-strong vocal group who meet weekly, and I am part of a 3-piece, 3-part-vocal-harmony band locally. I live by the sea in beautiful Cornwall where I work in primary and secondary schools, both private and state. I teach classroom and instrumental music to all levels and abilities. I also teach privately online (very popular at the moment). I am a classically trained teacher of jazz, classical and pop music, and have taught piano, keyboard, saxophone, clarinet, flute, recorder, guitar, ukulele, bass guitar, singing and drums in both individual and group lesson settings. I love to teach all genres of music to all ages. I have also taught in the classroom (Key Stage 2 to A-Level) over the last 12 years. I was nearly put off music at a young age by a piano teacher who was rigid and allowed for little creativity or input from myself. My approach to learning is very different! If your aim is to learn your favourite songs then I will transcribe for you and get you rocking for your next family get together. If you want to achieve success in your music grades then the focus will switch. I well understand what it takes to achieve fast and sustained progress, and not just musically. I played for the Great Britain Ultimate Frisbee team for 10 years and competed in the World Games in Taiwan. A big part of it is, of course, relentless effort and deliberate practice. But having fun and enjoying yourself is also super important and will make the hard work much easier! For the last 22 years, I have been a full-time music teacher and musician, mostly in and around London, and more recently down here in Cornwall, since 2016. I teach up to diploma level on piano, saxophone, clarinet and flute, from both the classical and jazz exam syllabuses, as well as guitars (including ukulele and bass), drums and singing up to grade 5. I have a 100% career success pass-rate of a merit or above for all exams my pupils have entered. I can teach to any exam syllabus, classical or jazz, but particularly like using Trinity, ABRSM, Rock School and Trinity Rock and Pop. For the last 12 years, in schools, I have been teaching whole-class instrumental lessons on recorder, clarinet, flute, keyboard and ukulele. This has included teaching whole-class samba band and singing, and running weekly whole-school singing assemblies and termly music concerts, as well as planning whole-school music curriculum. Previously I have taught song-writing, harmony and music theory to GCSE and A-Level students. Above all else, my number one priority during my lessons is that my pupils are thoroughly enjoying themselves and making excellent progress. Music should be nothing but fun, first and foremost, or children just won’t want to practice and therefore won’t progress. I’ve known far too many children and adults over the years who have had such negative experiences with traditional, ridged and non-bending teachers that they have simply given up and have had no desire to ever come back to music. This is nothing short of a tragedy. I know I provide the polar opposite experience to this. I ensure that I enthuse and inspire each and every one of my pupils, and that my lessons are full of fun and enjoyment, encouragement and positivity, whilst being jam-packed with progress, development and rewarding learning at the same time. This combination ensures that each and every one of my pupils is eager to continue their musical journey with me, can’t wait to get home and practice, and thus make huge leaps forwards in their progress week by week. I believe I am an excellent teacher. I have always established great working relationships with my pupils and parents alike, which I believe to be one of the most important aspects of great teaching practice. I love to get my pupils involved in choosing some of the pieces they want to learn, and produce bespoke sheet music for each child, at any level, on any instrument. One week they could be playing Ed Sheeran, the next it could be the Pokemon theme! There are no limits. Regardless of their level and ability, I will write out music to suit each child’s very specific needs. I also can create backing tracks for my pupils to play along to at home. I believe in strong relationships, clear communication and high levels of organization, whilst incorporating a variety of wider aspects of music in my lessons too: Duet sight-reading together, classical, pop and jazz music, improvisation, piano accompaniment, singing, song writing, play-along backing tracks, group collaboration with other instrumentalists, playing by ear, ad libing and composition, to name but a few.
