I am a British/South African teacher who has taught for 20 years in South Africa, Saudi Arabia and in Dubai as well as online. Whether you are a young first time student or a more experienced player preparing for a licentiate exam, I love to keep classes exciting with a lot of positive feedback and useful tips. I hold a Bachelor of Music degree, Licentiates from UNISA and the ABRSM, am a certified Kindermusik Educator specialising in teaching young students. I have prepared students from ages 6 years for Trinity and ABRSM piano exams as well as GCSE for clarinet. I have performed clarinet, saxophone and piano for many years, both in Southern Africa and Dubai. Having obtained my Bachelor of Music degree cum laude from The University of Pretoria, studying under Herbert Klein and Mario Trinchero, I won the National UNISA DJ Roode Overseas Study Teaching Licentiate competition. This enabled me to study with Janet Hilton and Spencer Pitfield at the Royal College of Music in London. I have performed extensively as a solo musician, in chamber music ensembles and was principal clarinet with the Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra for many years. I have performed with the Johannesburg Festival Orchestra, COSA, NAPOP, PACT and the South African National Youth Orchestra. Artists I have performed with include The Corrs, Hugh Masekela, Claire Johnson, Vicky Sampson, Sibongile Khumalo, Julian Lloyd- Webber, Helmut Lotti and many talented South African and Dubai-based musicians. I have worked in orchestras with esteemed conductors such as Rostropovich, Vengerov, Menhuin and Marriner and took pride in performing for Nelson Mandela for his 85th birthday celebrations.

Saxophone

With my 12 years of saxophone education and 20 years of experience that I have gained in all performances, I will share the secret to you to become a better musician. Every student is unique and needs a special approach to become a successful saxophonist who can easily play music from the lightest music material to a virtuoso piece of music on the biggest music scenes with big music names.

Have been teaching music (piano, violin, guitar, saxophone, drum, vocal) since 2011. My students range from kids to adults, oldest 60+. Have sent more than 30+ students for ABRSM exam. Students who learn from me will stay with me for more than 5 years or some even 10 years until they graduated from high school and pursue into university. I hold a Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in management and marketing (UOW). As for music, I only have Grade 8 for Piano and Violin, Grade 7 for Vocal, Grade 7 for Theory, all from ABRSM. As for drum, guitar and saxophone, I have experience in live performing for more than 10 years with concert, conference, event that were up to 1000 people. I'm passionate in teaching and I have experience teaching autism kids too. Hence, I have confident that my patience should not be a problem.

I am a freelance woodwind musician and teacher based in Glasgow where, after initial training as a classical oboist in Croatia, I completed my education at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. I have extensive music teaching experience both privately and in music schools with woodwinds where I use tailored approaches to best meet the needs and ambitions of my students. I play the oboe, cor anglais, flute, clarinet, and saxophone, and have performed both as a soloist and with a variety of orchestras and chamber groups in the UK and across Eastern and Central Europe. I am qualified to teach music (oboe, flute, clarinet, and saxophone) in English and Croatian (as I am bilingual) and can teach all levels, including exam preparation. My teaching toolkit includes an accessible fun repertoire alongside more formal pieces, exercises to develop breathing techniques and enhance sight-reading skills, and improvisation as a method to build self-confidence and creativity as a performer.

After completing grade 8 in both drums and saxophone, Will went on to study classical and jazz music performance at Leeds Conservatoire, graduating in 2021 with a BA (Hons first class). After learning with internationally renowned saxophonist Sarah Markham, he received the Ralph Markham Achievement Award for great personal success and development. Since then, he has taught music within local schools whilst also tutoring drum kit and saxophone. Will also has current experience performing at gigs, private events and festivals over the years; working with jazz, pop and classical musicians; including songwriters, big bands, orchestras and much more. He has established himself well in the Leeds music scene and in addition to teaching, Will works as a session drummer and saxophonist.
