Classical Guitar

I am a guitar teacher for 10 years. I mainly taught Classical guitar. I teach some pop and a little Jazz as well for those who are interested. I often include improvisation, aural, chords (Harmony) in my lessons as well. I also prepare students for examination (ABRSM, TRINITY, LCM, etc). My motto in music is always "Be a musician, not an instrumentalist".

My name is Tammi, 36, I am a professional musician (guitar, vocal, piano, flute, ukulele, percussion, cajon) teaching people of all ages and levels. I was taught theoretically and I learnt by ear later. My approach to teaching now is to learn the opposite way around. I believe scales and theory are important but without a love for your instrument and some instant gratification of what you can produce from your instrument, tirelessly ploughing through theory is not the way.

I started teaching piano as a hobby when I was 14 and that's what I've been doing ever since! By 16, piano teaching was my official job and I learned so much along the way. I love music and getting to teach is such a privilege.

Flamenco Guitar

My name is Vital Mezery. I am a Flamenco guitar coach. I have traditional Flamenco guitar education and only play Flamenco on the guitar. I started my guitar studies in 2013. After trying to learn by myself from YouTube videos and understanding that it leads me nowhere I went to study with a known local teacher who in the end of my studies gave me a certificate of his school. I also participated in Flamenco guitar seminars where I studied with Flamenco greats such as Serranito, Chicuelo and Jose Antonio Rodriguez. My great passion is to teach and explain the reality of Flamenco music with seriousness and responsibility which I know I do very good. I explain Flamenco style by style. I use a method which eliminates the problems that the traditional way of teaching Flamenco usually generates (you have to born Andalusian, you must feel, never count just repeat etc.). Until now I have taught Flamenco guitar to students from USA, Spain, Germany, Italy, India, Russia, Israel and England.

Violin, Viola

Valerie is a professional musician and teacher, currently working as Principal Viola in Lohja City Orchestra. She has played in prestigious orchestras in Finland and abroad as well as being a dedicated chamber musician and improviser, with a particular interest in projects combining multiple creative fields. She has over a decade of teaching experience, having held full-time positions in prestigious music institutes in Finland and the United Kingdom. She has also been invited to teach at Summer masterclasses in Joutseno and Kaarina, Finland. Valerie currently teaches viola at the West-Uusima Music Institute in Lohja, Finland. “Teaching has always been at the heart of my music making, because sharing what I experience and have learned in music gives me joy and a purpose to what I do. I believe music is accessible to anyone and I love that music-making can be manifested in so many ways for each individual. Having had long-time experience in teaching complete beginners up to professional standard, I am convinced I can give you helpful ideas, learning strategies and share advice that I have been given by many great musicians and mentors - no matter at what stage of your musical journey you’re at! I speak English, German, Finnish and some French. During the Corona Virus-restrictions, I was teaching full-time online and have therefore gathered a lot of experience in online teaching. I have also created useful resources that make sure students will get the best out of their online lessons.”

After completing grade 8 in both drums and saxophone, Will went on to study classical and jazz music performance at Leeds Conservatoire, graduating in 2021 with a BA (Hons first class). After learning with internationally renowned saxophonist Sarah Markham, he received the Ralph Markham Achievement Award for great personal success and development. Since then, he has taught music within local schools whilst also tutoring drum kit and saxophone. Will also has current experience performing at gigs, private events and festivals over the years; working with jazz, pop and classical musicians; including songwriters, big bands, orchestras and much more. He has established himself well in the Leeds music scene and in addition to teaching, Will works as a session drummer and saxophonist.

With my years of experience I have honed my skills in creating engaging lesson plans, encouraging student curiosity, adapting to different settings and requirements, providing one-on-one and group setting instruction, and fostering a positive and empowering learning environment. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Oklahoma Panhandle State University, where I was on honor roll and graduated Magna cum laude, and I have a teaching license as well as multiple ESOL certifications. I started taking guitar lessons when I was 8 years old. I only stopped taking guitar lessons after graduating High School and have been playing and teaching independently since. When I'm not teaching, you can find me spending time with my 16-month-old baby girl on our farm, surrounded by our dogs, cats, horses, and cows. I believe that my personal experiences as a mom and a farmer taught me the importance of nurturing growth and promoting a safe and nurturing environment.
